Virtual Colonoscopy

Virtual Colonoscopy $1975

Virtual colonoscopies offer a modern, convenient alternative to traditional colonoscopies. They are less invasive, more comprehensive, and carry fewer risks of complications. Using advanced CT technology, our virtual colonoscopy captures detailed images of your abdomen and pelvis. These high-resolution images provide a clear view of your colon and rectum, allowing for the detection of polyps and other abnormalities with precision and accuracy. Experience a safer, more comfortable approach to colon cancer screening with a virtual colonoscopy.

Virtual Colonoscopy vs. Conventional Colonoscopy

When comparing virtual and conventional colonoscopies, each approach has its pros and cons. One of the key benefits of a virtual colonoscopy is that it is less invasive and does not require sedation, making it a more convenient and comfortable option. Conventional colonoscopies, however, are more time-intensive. Both procedures involve the injection of CO2 into the colon, which may cause some temporary discomfort.

While conventional colonoscopies are slightly more effective at detecting polyps smaller than 10mm, the majority of these small polyps are benign. Virtual colonoscopies can identify polyps as well but require a follow-up procedure to remove them if necessary. Additionally, virtual colonoscopies use a low dose of radiation to capture detailed images.

For both procedures, a small tube is inserted into the rectum to pump CO2 into the colon. In a virtual colonoscopy, the shorter tube and lower pressure result in less discomfort and eliminate the need for pain medication. Although there is a minimal risk of colon tearing or rupture with either procedure, this risk is reduced during virtual colonoscopies due to careful monitoring of pressure throughout the exam.

It’s important to note that virtual colonoscopies may not always be covered by health insurance.

Reasons to Choose a Virtual Colonoscopy

The main goal of a virtual colonoscopy is to provide a detailed view of the colon and rectum, helping to detect polyps or other abnormalities. Here are some reasons to opt for a virtual colonoscopy over a conventional one:

  • No need for pain medication or anesthesia.
  • The procedure is faster and more efficient.
  • Reduced risk of harm to the large intestine.

How to Prepare for a Virtual Colonoscopy

Preparation for a virtual colonoscopy is similar to that of a conventional colonoscopy. You’ll need to follow a clear liquid diet for one to two days before the procedure, which may include clear broth, water, or an electrolyte solution. To ensure clear imaging, the colon must be completely empty, so you’ll be given a laxative the day before your appointment.

A detailed preparation plan will be provided before your procedure to ensure you’re ready for the scan.

By choosing a virtual colonoscopy, you can benefit from a quicker, less invasive screening option while maintaining accuracy in detecting abnormalities.
